Eng. Abdul Basit Salem Al-Baour, Chairman of the General Information Authority, inaugurated today, Wednesday, the Authority’s archive after completing the digitization and development of its holdings, in the presence of a number of leaders and employees of the Authority.
The Chairman of the Authority said that the opening of the Authority’s archive today, after its development, is a new addition to the technical scene in the Authority, and reflects its keenness to enhance knowledge for all those interested at various levels and meet their needs of paper and electronic sources of information.
The Chairman of the Authority added that the year 2025 will witness the launch of many information systems related to documentation, most notably the launch of a platform to document government decisions and reports issued by all government agencies every end of the year, explaining that a regulatory policy will be developed for this system that determines the documents that are circulated and that are not allowed to be circulated, and the year 2025, which will be the foundation year in the Libyan state in the field of official government documentation, will witness the announcement of the launch of the national documentation system.
The Chairman of the Commission praised the decision of the Government of National Unity to establish a documentation department to be added to the structure of the Commission, stressing that the establishment of this department will contribute to documenting the most important documents within the Libyan state, pointing out that the Official Gazette today is fully documented by the Commission since the date of its first issuance in 1946.
After the opening, the Chairman of the Commission inspected the archive hall, which contains about eight thousand documents from the Authority’s holdings from inside and outside Libya in various fields and their paper and electronic forms.
It should be noted that researchers and scholars can visit the Authority’s headquarters and view the documents on paper, in addition to their digital form, according to their needs and research.
