The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Medical Centers Affairs, Mr. Tawfiq Al-Drissi, followed up on Thursday, during a meeting with the Director of the National Database Department at the Public Information Authority, Mr. Nader Melitan, the final stages of launching the National Emergency System project at the Ministry of Health, which is implemented by the Ministry in coordination and cooperation with the Authority, under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Mr. Ramadan Abu Jinnah.
During the meeting, the Undersecretary of Medical Centers Affairs explained that the Ministry of Health is preparing to launch the first electronic application via smart phones to improve emergency response, as part of the Ministry’s e-projects aimed at achieving the optimal use of all digital health solutions and technologies to improve health care delivery and planning.
Mr. Al-Wakeel said that the application will allow users to access the necessary medical assistance in health emergencies, through geographical location technology and an easy user interface, through which quick and effective distress signals can be sent to the competent authorities. He added that the system will provide additional services to more than six million Libyan citizens, most notably obtaining information on the best measures that can be taken in various cases, such as burns, wounds and poisoning.
