The President of the General Information Authority, Eng. Abdul Basit Salem Al-Baour, discussed, on Sunday, with the Director of the Local Government Project at the United Nations Development Program in Libya, Mr. Arkinbek Kasibeikov, the mechanism of cooperation between the two sides in the preparation and implementation of development studies and research, especially in the preparation of the seventh national report for human development and tracing its main axes in line with the specificity, interests and priorities of the Libyan state, and in harmony with international trends in the field of human development and the sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations.

During the meeting, which was attended by specialists from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Libya, they discussed the importance of coordination between the Commission, the United Nations Development Program and various ministries and institutions within the framework of integration and harmony to ensure the success of the implementation of the report and the achievement of the desired goals.

During this meeting, the Chairman of the Commission expressed the Authority’s interests in benefiting from the international knowledge and experience of the United Nations Development Program in the development fields, stressing the importance of the continuous support of the United Nations Development Program and joint efforts in the success of the series of human development reports that the Authority has been issuing since 1999.

For their part, the representative of the United Nations Development Program in Libya praised the Authority’s interest in the Human Development Report, stressing his readiness to provide the necessary support when preparing the seventh national human development report.

At the end of this meeting, the two sides agreed to organize a joint workshop in cooperation with the Communications and Informatics Regulatory Authority entitled Digital Transformation and Local Governance, during the coming period.

It is noteworthy that since 1999, the Authority, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, has analyzed and measured human development issues in Libya and their progress, identified challenges and opportunities, and proposed solutions from a scientific perspective, through the human development reports it issues, the latest of which was the Sixth National Human Development Report, which was recently issued under the title Demographic Transformations and Sustainable Development, as these reports contributed significantly to the development of national capacities and enable them to collect and analyze data related to human development, and transform Human development goals to standards, plans and approaches to national action.
