The Minister of Planning, a member of the Central Committee for the Seventh General Population Census and other accompanying censuses, launched the seventh Libyan population census project, which will be implemented by the Statistics and Census Authority in collaboration with all ministries, departments, agencies, municipalities and all relevant authorities.
The announcement came during a press conference held by the Minister of Planning, today, Monday, at the headquarters of the General Information Authority, with the participation of a number of committee members, Eng. Abdel Basset Al-Baour, head of the Authority, dr. Abdullah Allaq, head of the Statistics and Census Authority, along with Mr. Nabil Al-Qanqa, Director General of the Statistics and Census Authority, and a number of officials and those in charge of the census project.
During the press conference, the Minister of Planning stressed the interest of the national unity government and its keenness to conduct this census, because of its importance in providing accurate and comprehensive data on the population of Libya, their demographic, social and economic characteristics, their living conditions, and other indicators that reflect the Libyan reality, which will form the basis of proper planning for the future, indicating that its results will contribute to providing modern databases with information that contribute to decision-making.
For his part, the head of the General Information authority confirmed, during the press conference, that the authority supports this national project, and will be a major partner in its implementation, and is keen on its success, indicating that what will characterize this census will be completely digital using modern technologies in its various stages, this would contribute to saving a lot of time and effort, increasing the level of data quality, maintaining its confidentiality, and ease of documentation and reference.
