The Supreme Committee, formed by a decision of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, to establish a mechanism for updating and processing data related to the election database, held its first meeting, today, Tuesday, 05/30/2023, at the headquarters of the General Information Authority, headed by Engineer Abdel Basset Salem Al-Baour, head of the Authority in his capacity as head of the Supreme Committee, and in the presence of the members of the committee, Mr. Engineer Mahmoud Maatouq, Deputy Head of the Civil Status Authority, Ms. Nadira Muhammad Aoun, the Minister’s Counsellor for the Elections Affairs File, representing the Council of Ministers, and Mr. Muhammad Al-Hadi Abdo, Director of the System Department at the High Electoral Commission.
The meeting began with a speech by the head of the Committee, in which he stressed the importance of the role of the Committee in view of the tasks entrusted to it by virtue of the decision to form it, and what is required to implement this in terms of exerting maximum efforts and harnessing all capabilities, wishing everyone full success in achieving the desired goals for the service of this country.
During the meeting, many topics on the agenda were discussed, including the mechanism for implementing the tasks of the committee mentioned in the decision to form it, which is summarized in setting up a mechanism for updating and processing data and its accuracy, and following up the procedures related to the election database, as well as the responsibilities of the committee for the process of follow-up, evaluation and submission of periodic reports to the Prime Minister in accordance with the mechanism specified in this decision , in addition to examining the opinions and proposals submitted by the attendees regarding the mechanism for forming the technical committees stipulated in this decision, which will process the data of the election database for candidates and voters, thus contributing to increasing the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the data.
