Eng. Abdul Basit Salem Al-Baour, Chairman of the General Information Authority, directed the officials of the National Database Department to enhance the electronic link between the national database of the Authority and the various service agencies in the country, in a way that would speed up the completion of citizens’ transactions, and shorten their time and effort, in a manner that is in line with the state’s direction in this regard.
This came during a meeting held by the Chairman of the Authority, on Tuesday, with the heads of departments and employees of the National Database Department, in the presence of the Director of the Department, Mr. Nader Melitan, through which he was briefed on the progress of work in the department, especially with regard to the electronic linkage operations carried out by the Authority with various service agencies, and the Department’s efforts in managing geospatial information.
Eng. Abdul Basit Al-Baour stressed that the Authority’s goal is to activate electronic connectivity with various service agencies in the country, especially since most of these entities are equipped with an infrastructure that helps them to digital transformation and provide all services electronically, pointing out that the direct link with the national database through the National Data Distributor in the Authority will enable all service entities to exchange data and information quickly and securely, indicating that the Authority has a distinguished experience, which is electronic connectivity with a number of state institutions.
Eng. Abdul Basit Al-Baour explained that there is also a priority given by the authority to the management of geospatial information systems due to its importance in decision-making. Where preparations are being made to launch services for geographical data for a number of institutions and complete the national spatial databases project, stressing the importance of coordination and integration of work between the various components of the administrative body on the one hand, and the relevant state institutions on the other hand.
The Chairman of the Authority listened to a detailed explanation from the Department and its engineers on the work of the Department and ways to solve the difficulties they face, and the initiatives taken by the Department to keep pace with new developments and technologies in geographic information systems to raise the level of performance.
