The head of the General Information Authority, Engineer Abdul Basit Salem Al-Baour, proposed the preparation of a regulation that regulates the dealings of state institutions with documents during his meeting with experts from the Libyan Center for Archives and Historical Studies.
The head of the Authority stated that this proposal comes as a priority for developing support for enhancing the archiving and documentation system in all government institutions, according to the best practices in this regard. The proposal aims to determine methods of dealing with documents and preserving them using proper scientific methods, and keeping up with technological developments.
The head of the Authority praised the efforts of the Libyan Center for Archives and Historical Studies in preserving the historical memory of Libya. Attending the meeting, which was held on Thursday at the headquarters of the Authority, were the Director of the National Information System Administration at the Authority, Engineer Adel Jumaa Al-Toumi, the Director of the Office of the President’s Affairs, Mr. Ashraf Al-Marabti, and the Head of the Electronic Archiving Department, Engineer Mohamed Anbia.
Experts from the Libyan Center for Archives and Historical Studies held a working meeting with Engineer Adel Jumaa Al-Toumi, Director of the National Information System Administration. During the meeting, they were briefed on the center’s experience in documentation and archiving, and reviewed some modern methods of collecting and preserving archival materials. Additionally, the important role of the authority in coordinating communication between the center and sectoral information and documentation centers was discussed, which will positively impact the development of a mechanism for exchanging and preserving documents between them. Mohammed Anbia, Head of the Electronic Archiving Department at the authority, attended this meeting.
